Elisa stood and watched the clan wake up. She never tired of the magical way their bodies glowed before they broke free of the stone. She glanced at the extra gargoyle that was with the clan tonight. Delilah had stayed the day. It was a strange feeling seeing the gargoyle with her face. She felt guilty at the relief she felt when Delilah just nodded hello and then headed into the castle.
“So, Elisa what brings you by today? I thought you were visiting with Beth since she’s in town.” Goliath smiled at her as he stepped down from the castle wall.
“I did, I even brought them by for a tour of the castle.” Elisa smiled up at him. “They were pretty impressed with you guys.”
“They?”
“Mother and Beth took the tour with me. Since they are both so into history, I thought they might like to see an actual castle. They would have stayed to visit, but Mom had plans with a friend and Beth was…” Elisa frowned in concern. Her sister had been acting a little strange around her during the end of the tour. She had the feeling Beth didn’t want to be around her, but she kept giving Elisa these strange looks. “Not feeling up to visiting tonight.”
Goliath gave Elisa a hug. “Well, we wouldn’t have been great company tonight. With it being Halloween, I’ve decided that we need to patrol all night. Last Halloween was very busy for criminals.”
Elisa sighed heavily, “I know what you mean. I’m surprised I was given the night off when I requested it to be with Beth.” And then my sister ditched me, Elisa thought bitterly.
Angela stretched, raising her arms above her head as she stared out into the night sky. She felt a little strange; it must be this Halloween that the clan spoke of. She’d never seen one before. The humans on Avalon didn’t mention such a holiday. She watched as her father and the clan split up and glided in three different directions. She was supposed to escort Delilah back to the Labyrinth. It wasn’t that Delilah couldn’t make it on her own, but the clan was trying to develop better relations with the Labyrinth clan, and visiting once in a while helped with that. The others were uncomfortable going to see their clones, so it was Angela that usually went. Angela glanced at the castle doorway, wondering what was taking Delilah so long. She didn’t want to waste her whole night visiting the clones and the mutates, she had other plans as well. This is the closest she’d gotten to a night off in a couple of weeks.
When she glanced at the doorway again, she was surprised to see Elisa staring at her. Intensely staring. “Hey Elisa, I didn’t know you were still here.” Angela smiled and started to walk towards her father’s human mate.
“I don’t have to work tonight. I thought I’d see what you were up to.” Elisa’s voice was unusually deep as she stepped closer to Angela, and the gargoyle could have sworn she saw desire in her friend’s eyes.
Angela looked at Elisa, really looked at her. The detective was beautiful for a human, with long lustrous hair, a fit, compact body. She could definitely see what her father saw in Elisa. Angela sighed, “I’m waiting for Delilah, so that I can escort her home.”
Elisa sat next to Angela on the couch while they waited. The female was very good company, and Elisa found her eyes drawn to Angela’s body several times. Elisa licked her lips and reached out to caress Angela’s hair. She was pleasantly surprised when Angela leaned into her caress. A green glow flickered in Elisa’s eyes as she leaned forward and kissed Angela’s soft, delicious lips. She didn’t know which one of them moaned first, but Elisa felt Angela’s arms wrap around her and pull her closer. A loud noise at the library door startled Elisa and she pulled back guiltily to see Xanatos staring at her and Angela in shock. His mouth was open just a little and a book sat on the ground by his feet.
“Oh God!” Angela felt mortified. She’d kissed her father’s mate, and Xanatos saw. Goliath was going to find out! And what about Broadway?! Angela got up and left the room as quickly as she could, because even though Xanatos was there, the urge to continue kissing Elisa, to push Elisa back onto the couch and devour her, was strong. She needed to get out of here, because she needed somewhere to think, somewhere away from Elisa.
Elisa glanced at the retreating gargoyle taking flight. “Shit.”
Angela hovered nearby her mother’s mansion. She had planned to visit Demona later tonight, after she’d taken Delilah home. She just skipped the visit to the Labyrinth and came right here. She knew that her father would disapprove of these visits, so she never told him that she’d been seeing her mother every couple of weeks for a few months.
As soon as she got the light that signaled the security system was down she glided down to the balcony. She was early, and when Demona opened the door to her bedroom it was obvious that she was concerned about her. “Angela, you weren’t planning on being here for a few more hours. Is everything okay?”
Angela stepped into the large, luxurious bedroom with a heavy sigh. Should she tell Demona what happened? Her mother hated Elisa, would she even listen, would she be disgusted? Angela had tried to figure out how that had happened, how she ended up kissing Elisa so passionately. She still had no idea what had come over her. “I’m fine.” Angela said flatly as she sat down on the bed.
Demona could see that Angela was lying to her. She wouldn’t even need to see her; she could hear it in her daughter’s voice. “I’ll go get us something to drink, then we can talk.” Demona said sternly, before turning to go downstairs to the kitchen. Angela obviously needed to talk about whatever was bothering her. Maybe she was having trouble with Broadway, she’d sensed that her daughter’s relationship with that male wasn’t doing too well lately. Angela was becoming increasingly irritated by his childish ways, and the way he just followed his clan brothers into any mess they could find for themselves. Broadway was a weak willed male, and Demona had known from the start that he was a poor match for her daughter. Either of the other two would have been better.
Angela had watched her mother walk out the door, studying her. She wished she were nearly as beautiful as her mother. The concept of actually having a mother was so new to her. After being raised by Princess Katherine along with her clan brothers and sisters, she found herself wanting the guidance of older gargoyles. She was getting to know Demona now, and she felt like they’d achieved a measure of friendship, but even though she called Demona mother, she just didn’t feel that type of connection. Princess Katherine was the one that raised her and cared for her wounds when she got hurt. Demona wouldn’t listen to the fact that Angela had always known humans to be part of her clans, first with the Princess, and then with Elisa. It was just natural to her, and Demona had ranted on a few occasions about that.
Angela got up and walked around the bedroom, glancing at everything. She didn’t normally spend much time in here. She wandered into the bathroom to check on her appearance. She ran her talons through her hair, trying to flatten out the damage the wind had caused. She wanted to look good when her mother came back. She inhaled deeply and smiled. This room smelled like her mother, the soaps that the older female used scented the air.
“Angela?” Demona’s voice carried in from the bedroom. Angela took one last look in the mirror and stepped out of the bathroom.
“Right here.” She smiled softly and moved to sit at the table with Demona. She glanced at the pitcher of lemonade and the two wine glasses. Demona always tried to make even the simplest things that they shared special. The round table was next to the balcony windows, and they had a nice view of the night sky.
Demona watched Angela take a sip of the juice and stare out the window. She could see the tension in the girl’s shoulders, and the worry in her eyes. “What happened?” She asked softly while reaching out a hand to take one of Angela’s from across the table.
The look in Angela’s eyes as she glanced at her looked a lot like fear. Her daughter was afraid of how she’d react to whatever was bothering her. Whatever it is, I am not going to lose my temper, Demona thought firmly to herself, she needs me right now, and yelling will drive her away. It was a few weeks ago that Angela had left angrily after Demona had yelled about the uselessness of humans. The following days had been incredibly tense for Demona as she waited nightly to hear from her daughter, hoping that she hadn’t driven her away for good.
Angela’s voice was very soft, as if she were afraid that anyone would hear what she had to say. “I… Elisa and I kissed.” Angela felt her heart pounding as she stared down into her drink. She’d liked that kiss, really liked it. “I kissed father’s mate… and I didn’t want to stop.”
Demona stared with wide glowing red eyes at her daughter. Maza was trying to seduce the girl! It was bad enough she’d seduced Goliath, but it… it was inexcusable what she was trying to do to Angela! She took a few deep breaths, and fought her temper like she’d never tried before. She had to keep Angela here. She couldn’t let her go home tonight. She had to tell Goliath about this, and she didn’t want Angela out where Elisa could get to her until this was dealt with. She could not afford to drive Angela away with her temper now! Demona’s eyes burned brighter, she knew how she’d like to deal with the situation, but… Angela would never forgive her. She’d just let Goliath take care of his unfaithful pet human, for this, she knew that he would!
Angela looked up when there was no yelling. The silence was unexpected. Her mother’s grip on her hand was almost painful, and Angela could see her mother was angry, very angry, but she wasn’t saying anything. She watched in amazement as the red glow left her mother’s eyes and a look of concern replaced it. She’d never seen Demona rein her temper in before, especially if it had anything to do with Elisa.
Angela sat beside her mother watching an old and rather stupid movie. Demona had come up with the idea to watch the TV movie, which was highly unusual. They’d only talked briefly about the kiss with Elisa and her mother had let it go, dropped it without yelling or threatening. She turned slightly in her seat and watched her mother. She… watched those lips curl up into a slight smile at something slightly funny in the movie. It was an honest smile, the type of smile that Angela was sure she was the only one to ever see on Demona for hundreds of years. She studied her quietly. “I wish I’d inherited your hair.” Angela said softly, not even pretending to pay attention to the TV. When Demona turned to look at her slightly surprised, Angela reached out and gently ran her talons through Demona’s fiery red locks. “I like your hair much better than mine.”
Demona stiffened up. She wasn’t used to being touched. She didn’t pull away, she just stared at Angela in surprise as the young female continued to play with her hair so intimately, in the gargoyle version of an affectionate kiss. This was the first time Angela had touched her like this. Her body gradually relaxed as the caresses continued. It was nice to… tears started to pool in her eyes, and she turned away from Angela, ashamed of how a simple act of love unglued her. She’d been wandering the earth for over a thousand years, and in the time since the castle fell to the Vikings, she could count the number of times she’d been touched with true affection on one hand. The tears started to travel down her cheeks, so she started to move to get up off the couch. A pair of strong hands pulled her back into a hug, completely ruining what little control she’d managed to maintain. Angela spun her around easily and pulled her tight to her body, caressing her hair while she cried out her loneliness.
Angela continued to pet Demona’s hair and hold her tight. This outpouring of pain was shocking. Demona was clinging to her like she was a life raft in the middle of the ocean. When Angela thought over the event that led to these tears, she found her own eyes getting wet. Demona was crying because Angela had touched her. She’d only meant to show Demona that she cared about her, she had no idea how strongly it would affect her. It was suddenly dawning on Angela how completely and utterly lonely her mother must be.
Once Demona got control of her emotions again she slowly and reluctantly pulled out of Angela’s embrace. She wished that she could keep Angela with her always. That she wouldn’t return to her father. She wished that she saw her more than twice a month for an hour or two.
Angela looked into Demona’s vulnerable eyes, and she really believed that she’d never seen her looking this beautiful, this real. She didn’t even think about it, she leaned forward and gave a gentle lingering kiss to her mother’s lips. When she slowly pulled away she reopened her eyes. A very brief flash of green faded away while she waited for Demona to open her own eyes. It took so long she leaned in again to kiss her again. It felt so good, even better than it did with Elisa. This was so right. Demona needed her, and right now… right now she really needed Demona.
Demona’s eyes shot open as she realized that she was kissing Angela again. She shouldn’t do this! She was keeping the girl here to prevent her from being used. When she tried to gently pull back from the gentle and loving seductive kisses, Angela leaned forward to pull her closer and nibbled on her lower lip. It was obviously a lover’s kiss. Demona felt the tension slowly melting away as she closed her glowing green eyes and surrendered to the female whose kisses were becoming more demanding.
Angela gently pressed forward so that she was leaning over Demona, forcing Demona to lie on the couch. She ran her kisses down the side of her… no she couldn’t think like that now… she was Demona. Angela hesitated for a moment before finally surrendering her will and reaching up to caress the underside of Demona’s breasts underneath the halter top while kissing her neck. The wanton moan that the blue female gave off started Angela’s sex throbbing with need. She had no experience with sex, but she just followed her needs, her desires, and she had never wanted anyone like she wanted the woman with her right now.
Demona felt Angela pull away and was instantly alarmed. Did she regret this already? She opened her eyes to find her daughter… no, she was not going to let her mind go there right now… Angela looking at her mischievously as she started to remove her tunic. “I always hated this thing. I’d rather wear something like you do.” Angela’s voice got deeper, “and right now, I’d rather you wore nothing at all.” Demona watched as the lavender flesh was revealed, and Angela’s tone and feminine body was uncovered. She licked her lips and sighed. She’d allowed Angela to take the lead long enough, it was clear that this is what the female wanted, she couldn’t be held responsible for seducing her, because it was Angela that had done the seducing. Goliath would never see it that way, but then Goliath was never going to find out!
Demona stood up and approached Angela with a seductive sway in her hips and a sexy soft smile on her lips. The girl was naked, and magnificent. Her full breasts were drawing Demona’s eyes like a moth to flame. She reached out and slowly ran the back of her talon along the side of Angela’s breasts, enjoying the contented purr coming from Angela’s lips. Demona then stepped closer and leaned in to kiss Angela possessively, hungrily. She knew she’d be Angela’s first lover, and it excited her. Her talon snaked around the gently moaning female to caress Angela’s wing joints. She smiled into the kiss when Angela’s knees almost gave out. It was only her strong arms that held her upright. Demona’s kisses trailed off and she moved her head to whisper in Angela’s ear, “Shall we take this to my bedroom?” Her voice was deep with desire. She felt Angela’s body stiffen a little and her love for her daughter compelled her to give the girl an out. “If you’ve changed your mind… it’s okay. I will always love you, no matter what.”
Angela’s heart contracted painfully at the complete and unconditional love Demona was giving her. “I’ve never… I don’t know how to please you.” She said shyly. In spite of her vamp act, she was still just a virgin. “I want to make this good for you… I’m not changing my mind.” She knew it had been a long time for Demona, so she wanted to be perfect for her.
“Oh, honey…” Demona caressed Angela’s cheek tenderly. “It will be… it will be.”
Angela gently placed her tunic on the chair she’d sat in earlier and moved to sit on the bed, naked, to watch Demona undress. She really did love the playful blue female. Demona smirked at her and started a slow teasing unveiling of her body. Angela watched intently as the firm blue skin was revealed inch by inch. “You are so beautiful.” Angela said softly from her place on the bed as she stared at Demona’s naked body. “Unbelievably beautiful.” The spell that kept Demona immortal was definitely freezing her aging in her prime. Angela slowly got up from the bed and moved closer with the practiced grace of a predator. She smiled at Demona as she moved to caress her arm. Demona pulled her into a kiss, and the feel of naked flesh against her own body was intoxicating. She could feel Demona’s hard nipples pressing against her skin, and her own breasts felt tight with her desire. Angela tentatively trailed her hand up Demona’s back to gently caress her wing joints, like Demona had done to her in the living room. The response was instantaneous. She held her… lover… up as Demona moaned loudly into their kiss while her knees weakened. Angela finally had to pull away for a chance to breath.
Demona was breathing heavily as Angela pulled back. Angela was a fast learner, the way she caressed her, kissed her, made her weak with desire and her sex was wet and eager for more, but this was Angela’s first time, she would take care of her needs first, show her how to touch someone, to make love. “Angela honey…” Demona’s voice was tender and soft. “Put your foot up on the bed. I want to try something.” Her voice got huskier, “I think you’ll like this.”
When Angela immediately obeyed, without question, Demona smiled her approval. She moved behind Angela and wrapped one arm around her to help support her around her waist. She leaned down to kiss Angela’s shoulder tenderly as she slowly slid her other hand around to cup a breast. She started a gentle kneading and pinched Angela’s hardened nipple. Demona’s tail slowly caressed up Angela’s calf, and she could feel Angela’s body tensing up a bit as she realized what Demona planned to do.
“Yes… oh, please…” Angela whimpered out as she leaned back against Demona’s body, trusting the blue female to support her while Demona’s tail gently caressed Angela’s sex. The hand against her stomach trailed down to play with her dark curls. Angela closed her eyes and enjoyed to feel of another person touching her like this. It was so much better than her own tail. She could feel her own wetness on her thighs. Demona leaned in to whisper in her ear so softly, tenderly, “I love you. I haven’t loved anyone in a very long time.” Demona’s tail started to circle around the opening of Angela’s sex. “Only if you want to give it to me…”
Demona waited tensely. She had no idea why she was offering this, asking for this. It would only make their coupling so much harder to hide if she took Angela’s virginity, but she wanted the completeness it offered. She wanted to make love to Angela in every conceivable way. She didn’t ever want to let her go. She didn’t want this to be a one-time thing, she wanted a lover. The thought of Broadway taking what was hers made her sick, she had to force her thoughts away from that. The body in front of her helped to draw her attention back to the present.
“Yes…mother do it.” Angela tensed up as she said that. She shouldn’t call her that now, not now. She waited tensely to see if it would ruin Demona’s mood. The pressing of Demona’s tail slowly into her sex made Angela groan out in pleasure and a bit of fear.
“This will hurt a little bit.” Demona kissed her neck, and nibbled on her skin. The bite startled Angela, and Demona pressed past the thin barrier with her tail. She could feel Angela’s warmth surrounding her tail, and she stood still, caressing Angela’s stomach gently while the both adjusted. She had heard that distracting the female from the area helped lessen the pain, that was the only reason she’d bit Angela like that, because even a thousand years later she remembered how Goliath’s clumsy attempts during their Breeder’s moon had hurt. “Are you okay baby?” She asked in a bit of concern when Angela made no movements whatsoever while Demona held her tight to her body.
“I can feel your heartbeat inside of me.” Angela said with a bit of wonder. “I can feel it in your tail.”
Demona smiled as she kissed the back of Angela’s neck. She slowly pulled her tail almost out and then pressed it back in a little further than before.
Angela moaned at the feeling of being filled. Demona’s gentle thrusts were driving away the little pain she’d felt, and filling her with such a wonderful feeling of desire and love. Oh, God, Demona was such a good lover. Angela wet her lips and arched back to increase the amount of body contact. The hand on her breast was gently tugging on her nipple, and Angela pushed her breasts forward so that Demona would increase that pressure. The blue female’s other hand was trailing down Angela’s stomach, towards the curls covering her sex. At the first gentle touch to her clitoris she moaned loudly and her knees started to give way. The hand on her breast moved to her stomach to help hold her up. Angela panted out her question, “We have a perfectly good bed here… why aren’t we using it?”
“I have better control of my tail this way.” Demona’s hand started to caress Angela’s clitoris more quickly and the lavender female forgot about asking questions as she started to thrust against the hand, while Demona’s tail started to curl and twist inside of her.
“Yes… mother!” Angela started to talk more loudly as the caressing hand kneaded her sex, causing fiery bolts of passion to sweep through her body, “yes… so good. I had no idea it could be so good.”
Angela’s frantic lust filled voice made Demona moan in sympathetic pleasure. “I’m going to make is so good for you. So good. Just go with it.” Demona started rambling as her hand moved more quickly over Angela’s button and her tail twisted more uncontrollably. Angela started keening before she roared out as she came so hard Demona could feel the contractions squeezing on her tail. She continued to caress Angela’s sex, trying to draw out the pleasure as long as she could, while holding the girl up. Angela wasn’t even able to pretend to be supporting herself anymore.
As soon as the shuddering passed, Angela found it difficult to stand. She carefully sat on the edge of the bed, and reached out to Demona. “Hold me… I need…”
Demona gritted her teeth against her own unanswered needs. She crawled onto the bed and pulled Angela close to hold her, comfort her, show her how much she was loved. “Is this your first orgasm?” Demona asked while caressing Angela’s hair. Angela’s response to this was too extreme, she seemed too shocked at the pleasure.
She watched with some amusement as Angela chose now to blush for the first time tonight. “I thought I had, but… it never felt anything like that. When I…” the blush intensified, “touch myself it’s just pleasant. This was amazing.”
Angela looked down at Demona and could see some tension. That’s when she realized that she hadn’t reciprocated yet. She was laying on her side looking down at Demona. She slowly started to caress Demona’s inner thighs. She smiled when Demona immediately spread her legs further apart to make that easier. “You can tell me what to do?” She asked shyly as she felt the wetness on Demona’s thighs.
“Yes.” Demona moaned out, “but it isn’t going to take very much for me right now. Just rub it… please rub it.” The tentative way Angela touched her only served to fuel her desire, without sending her over the edge, without giving her the release she craved so desperately. “Just a little harder, please…” Demona asked breathlessly and then moaned as Angela obeyed instantly, rubbing her just right. “Yes… Oh… Yes…” Demona panted out as her back arched and her wings fell flatly to the bed. “Angela, Yes… ANGELA!!!” Her entire body tensed as she roared out her lover’s name while the pleasure of her release overcame her.
Dominique Destine stared at the stone figure of her daughter standing in the balcony window, naked, and beautiful. She stepped up and caressed the stone skin of her breasts with the back of her hand. “I love you.” She was afraid of how her daughter would feel about her once she woke up. Once she was able to think clearly, free from the lust that had overcome both of them during the night, the entire night. They’d made love until dawn was mere minutes away. It only gave Angela a brief moment to call and reassure Goliath that she was okay for the day. She didn’t even have enough time to tell him where she was, which Demona had been grateful for. She didn’t want anyone dropping by during the day to see that Angela was fine. What she wanted, and doubted that she could have was beginning to make her eyes water. She wanted Angela to be her lover, her mate, to live here with her and make love to her every night. Angela filled the giant gaping hole that a thousand years of loneliness had created in her soul.
Angela's (Demona's) Chapter
2 – Day After
Dominique Destine found it very hard to fall asleep, even though she was tired from the hours of lovemaking the night before. She only managed a short nap, before she gave up and just stared at Angela. Angela had forgone the normal vicious pose that the gargoyles normally took in their stone sleep, and just stood, with a look of love and devotion on her face. She was naked. There hadn't been time to get dressed, and Dominique took some pleasure in looking at Angela's nakedness.
The girl was so beautiful… and so gentle and loving. Angela was also smart, and very stubborn in her ideals. Demona had tried countless times to warn Angela of the dangers of patrolling a city to save humans that hated them, and Angela insisted that she was not going to stop helping the humans. Demona had cursed Angela's stubbornness then, but now she hoped that it would work for them. If Angela wanted to be with her… to be her mate, she was going to have to be very strong to withstand the clan's reaction. That thought, and the accompanying doubt about how Angela truly felt drove away the lazy, happy feeling she'd gotten by staring at her lover. Angela might not want to be with her, or might not want it enough to go against the clan.
Dominique got out of bed with a heavy heart and went downstairs for something to eat. She'd slept all she was going to be able to today.
She dressed in black slacks and a red t-shirt. She had no where to go, and wouldn't have gone if she did. With Angela in the house, she wanted to be nearby in case she needed to protect her. Her security system was very advanced, her mansion was virtually impossible to break into, but still she worried. She always worried about Angela, and her vulnerability during the day. The day was when the humans usually struck, and there was nothing that a gargoyle could do to protect themselves. Demona had seen so many gargoyles scattered in pieces across the ground after the humans found them during the day. She… she just couldn't go through that again, not with Angela. Dominique's dark thoughts made her feel sick.
She went out and retrieved her Sunday paper a few hours earlier than she normally did. The business section just didn't hold her attention as well as it normally did. She found her eyes traveling up to stare at Angela again. She'd opted to read in her bedroom, rather than the kitchen where she normally did. Even though Angela was in her stone sleep, the company felt nice.
The ad drew Dominique's eyes to it yet again. She glanced up at the female and then back down at it, while nibbling on her own bottom lip. She made up her mind and reached for the phone to place the order.
Dominique was grumbling quietly to herself as she pulled apart her closet looking for that cloth that she never used. Angela had said she liked Demona's clothes, and the gargoyle turned human had to admit that the thought of getting Angela to retire that old tunic was a strong motivator to go through her odds and ends to find the black cloth that she'd bought once, when she'd considered changing her own look. On the way back from the purchase she'd changed her mind, but she had kept the cloth.
"How the hell have I managed to accumulate so much crap?" She muttered as she stared questioningly at a police uniform that she really didn't remember buying. She put it back in the dark corner of her closet and fifteen minutes later came out carrying the bag of cloth, as well as her sewing supplies.
"Well, one good thing about your stone sleep… I can get your measurements, use you as a model, and still surprise you." Dominique addressed the stone gargoyle while pulling out the measuring tape. She had a soft, gentle smile on her lips. An expression that was very rare for her.
She put the tape measure down and sighed as the phone continued to ring. She'd tried to ignore it, but whoever it was… was very determined. She picked up on the eighth ring. "Hello?"
"Demona?" Fox's voice surprised her. Xanatos' mate never called here. No one did… except Dominique's secretary occasionally.
Dominique glanced over at her daughter. She had to be calling because of Angela. Angela hadn't told anyone where she was, yet they found her anyhow. "Why are you calling?!" Dominique wasn't going to let this human come here and take Angela away. She had plans… she had presents. She didn't want some damned human ruining it all!
Fox's business tone irritated Dominique. "I just wanted to verify that Angela is with you."
"That is none of your business!" Dominique snapped at her. They could just wait for Angela. They didn't need to try to steal her right out of Dominique's home! Angela had never stayed the day with her like this. This spoke of so much trust. It was a precious gift, and just having her there made Dominique feel… less alone.
"I just need to know if she's safe. You can keep her for the day, I don't care. Is she okay?" Fox sounded worried, and it gave Dominique pause. What was going on?
"Angela is fine. She might be home late tonight."
"Thank you." Fox sounded truly grateful for that information. Dominique had her mouth open, ready to ask what was going on, but Fox hung up.
Dominique puzzled over Fox's concern while she worked to carefully cut out the material. Sewing was a little harder to do with her human hands. She poked herself a few times, but other than some soft swearing, she didn't really let it affect her. She wanted this ready long before sunset.
When she put the halter on Angela, to make sure it fit, she smiled and took a step back. She could easily imagine the black against Angela's lavender skin. The top was exactly like Demona's own, and it looked very good on the stone female.
Dominique removed it, and started to work on the loincloth. The buzzer at the front gate interrupted her.
The van pulled up to the mansion and Dominique held the door open for the driver to unload several dozen roses. "Where did you want these?" His voice was professional and detached. Dominique just waved at the dining room table. She'd place them later, but she wasn't comfortable with having the human in her home.
Once he left she allowed herself to smile and move to study the beautiful red roses. She'd bought several hundred dollars worth of them. They were romantic, and Angela deserved romance. The room was already taking on the beautiful flowery scent.
It took a while for her to place the roses around the bedroom. She worked very hard to arrange them perfectly. She wanted the room to smell of the roses before Angela woke up, so she took a break from sewing to do this. The large bedroom had many surfaces to place roses, and almost all of them were covered before she was done. The dressers, the tables, and a few creatively placed chairs made it so that there was nowhere that anyone could look without seeing some of the flowers. The room began to resemble a flower shop. Dominique smiled at the displays as she took a step towards Angela to see what the girl would see as she woke. It was perfect.
The outfit was finished with about two hours to spare. It was just like Demona's outfit, but the belt she had used had a gold colored belt buckle. It off set the black very nicely.
Dominique wrapped it very carefully in a box, and used the wrapping paper that the deliveryman had brought with him. It was normally just used at the flower shop for gifts, but she'd requested to buy some of it. She set the box down on the neatly made bed, adjusting it until she thought it was presented well. It laid halfway on the pillow, tilted up so that the attractive gold bow was showcased well. Dominique was getting more and more anxious for Angela to wake up and see what she'd done.
Dominique set the serving tray down on the table that they'd both sat at the night before. She'd spent a little over an hour preparing a nice meal for them. She hoped that she'd remembered what Angela had said her favorite foods were. She had never put so much effort into cooking in her long life. She changed into her night clothes and waited for the sunset, which was only a few minutes away.
She stared at Angela often and began to worry that she'd gone overboard with the gifts. She didn't want to drive her daughter away, if she couldn't have her as a lover. The sun set and her pain overcame her. She did what she could to endure it in relative silence, not wanting to upset Angela with it.
Angela broke free of her slumbers cocoon, and stared around the room in awe. Demona had been very busy during the day. The red roses were beautiful, and graced the entire room. Their flowery scent was pleasing, and Angela took a deep breath to inhale it. She also smelled the unmistakable scent of lasagna. It was her favorite dinner food. My God, she thought as she glanced around, no one has ever… done this sort of thing for me. It all spoke of romance, and Angela's heart felt the impact of this effort on Demona's part.
Her eyes found Demona watching her quietly from the bathroom doorway. She could see the blue female's eyes were darkened with worry. "It's beautiful." Angela whispered and watched as her words seemed to relax Demona.
Angela glanced down and then blushed at her nakedness. She'd forgotten that she'd gone to sleep naked. She looked around quickly for her tunic.
"I left you a present." Demona spoke softly while she stepped further into the room. Angela noticed the red box laying on the bed, but her eyes didn't see the tunic. "Open it." Angela looked up to see a soft smile on her mother's lips. She ignored her discomfort and moved to comply.
"You didn't have to get me anything." She spoke as she carefully removed the gold bow and set it on the pillow.
Demona walked up behind her and leaned down to lightly kiss the column of her neck while Angela was unwrapping. The lavender female froze her movements. Her emotions were a jumbled mess. That one simple act had brought the memories of Demona pleasuring her the night before into crystal clarity. The guilt that she'd failed to feel the night before hit her as she realized what all she'd done.
Her hands were a little shaky as she finished unwrapping the gift. The black cloth at first confused her, but she held it up and recognized a halter-top. Demona had actually spent the day sewing for her. Angela's eyes became watery at yet another show of Demona's love.
Demona looked up as Angela came out of the bathroom. For some reason Angela had wanted privacy to get dressed. Her breath caught in her throat. The black cloth was beautiful against Angela's skin, and there was so much more skin visible with this new outfit. "You are so beautiful." Demona spoke in awe as she took a few steps towards Angela. The girl looked shy, and had a bit of a rosy blush to her cheeks. "Absolutely gorgeous." She wanted to wrap her arms around Angela and hold her, but something held her back. Angela seemed… a little off. It really worried her, but she attempted to ignore it. "I have dinner ready." Maybe it would just take Angela time to get used to being more exposed. Maybe it was just about the clothes being more revealing.
Angela sat a bit stiffly while eating the meal with Demona. The looks of adoration that Demona occasionally sent her way were making her increasingly uncomfortable. The meal was very good, not as good as Broadway's cooking, but still very good. Broadway… that was another problem that she'd failed to think about last night as she seduced Demona.
It was so painfully obvious that Demona wanted them to be lovers, to be a couple, and Angela just didn't know what to think. There were so many reasons why this couldn't work. And what about Broadway? She was still with him. Even though she'd been thinking about ending that relationship… was this really the way to do that? She didn't want to hurt him… which was why she hadn't broken up with him yet.
Demona watched the expressions flicker across Angela's face, and her concern grew exponentially. She reached out to take Angela's hand, in an attempt to comfort her for whatever was going through her mind, and when the girl flinched at her contact, her heart broke. She pulled her hand away, and took a quiet breath to keep the tears from her voice. "What's wrong?" She was pretty sure that she already knew.
Angela put her fork down, but wouldn't look her in the eyes. "I should be getting back home. The clan might be worried." Demona wanted to tell her that she'd already told Fox Angela would be late. She wanted to force Angela to stay and talk to her, to work through whatever it was that was making her pull away. Instead she just nodded that she understood. She felt like she was dying inside, but she wasn't going to make Angela feel guilty about that.
Demona stood watching Angela glide away, with tears in her eyes. Once she was certain that Angela was far enough away she screamed out her pain. This hurt more than anything had in a long time. Her eyes blazed red as she glared around the romantic room. The roses taunted her. She growled loudly and smashed her hand through a vase. She stormed around the room shredding the roses and destroying the fine crystal vases that held them. The scent of the roses only grew in the air as she ripped them apart, sending petals flying through the air.
Her sobs overcame her and she slowly lowered herself to the floor in the middle of the room. "Oh God… no, please no…" Her voice was full of tears as she wrapped her arms and her wings around herself. She didn’t even notice the satiny feel of the petals that she sat upon as her heart broke.
Angela had changed into her regular tunic before heading home. It would be too hard to explain her new outfit to the clan. She didn't want them knowing where she'd been. The clothes that Demona had made for her were in a bag that Angela held to her chest like a child would hold a teddy bear.
She was so lost in thought that she didn't see the shadow in the sky starting to follow her as Delilah caught sight of her. Angela was gliding slowly, trying to come to grips with her emotions before getting home.
"Hello" Elisa's voice above her almost made Angela drop her bag in shock, but she quickly regained her hold on it. She glanced up and saw the white haired gargoyle instead. Elisa… there was another problem she had to deal with. It seemed so pale in comparison to the others.
"Hi." Angela's voice wasn't very welcoming, and for once she didn’t worry about it. She knew that Delilah felt like she was Angela's sister, but she needed time to think and the young clone was interrupting that. In spite of her depressive mood, she could see that Delilah was practically vibrating with happiness.
"I have a lover." Delilah blurted out of nowhere, startling Angela again, but she didn't do more than just stumble a little in the air. "Fox said to not tell a lot of people, but I had to tell you."
Angela blinked and moved to land on a nearby rooftop. Fox and Delilah? What was going on here? "I didn't think you even really talked with her." Angela's confusion was clear.
Delilah landed beside her, oblivious to it. She smiled brightly, "There was a spell she cast. It was an accident, but…" Delilah was grinning widely, but Angela's mind was puzzling over this spell and barely noticed it, "it made it so we would be together. It was so wonderful!" Angela studied Delilah, and noticed when the white haired female seemed to become a bit more somber, "She's upset though. She said her spell hurt people. I don't like that she's hurting."
Angela tried to not look as intensely interested as she was. Delilah would only get nervous and forget to tell her things if she realized what she was saying was important. "What all happened? What is this spell?"
Angela stared after the other female as she glided away, leaving Angela on the rooftop. Angela sat down and stared up at the stars weakly. It was a spell that had made her be with her mother last night. A spell did this. Delilah didn't seem to think that made the feelings she felt for Fox any less real, but Angela couldn't be sure.
The spell ended at dawn? Angela thought about the flowers, the clothes that she still had clutched to her chest, and the dinner that Demona had prepared for her. She wasn't even hearing the busy city streets below her as she was lost in her own thoughts. Demona had done all of that, showed all of that love, without the spell. What did that mean?
Angela
smelled the hot dog stand and it moved her thoughts into another
direction. Broadway, could she really go
home and pretend that everything was okay between them now? He was a sweet male, kind, considerate… when
he wasn't trailing after his rookery brothers.
He really seemed to care about everyone.
He was a gentle person, and Angela loved him… but she could see now that
she didn't feel any spark of passion for him.
She couldn't imagine spending an evening like she had with Demona in his
bed. It felt wrong. He was more of her friend than Brooklyn or
After she put her new clothes in her room she took a deep breath and went down to the library to meet the clan. She wasn't sure who all would be home tonight. Elisa's presence was a bit of a surprise, but it shouldn't have been. Elisa looked so relieved to see her. Angela felt a blush cover her cheeks as she remembered kissing Elisa. Even that one moment held more passion than her entire relationship with Broadway.
Elisa walked up to her and whispered, even though the rest of the clan was absorbed in the T.V. show. "We need to talk."
Angela sat calmly on the chair while Elisa paced nervously while telling her about the spell. She managed to pretend to be surprised. "But I was fine." She lied, but couldn't look Elisa in the eye to do it. Luckily Elisa was so busy pacing that she didn't notice. Angela didn't want anyone to figure out what she'd been doing at Demona's. She'd been surprised when Elisa told her that she knew where she'd been.
Elisa seemed to relax at that. "Well, good." Elisa turned to look at her, "I'm sorry I kissed you." Angela could easily see the worry in Elisa's eyes.
"It's okay." Angela spoke softly and stood up to pull Elisa into a hug. What had happened between them seemed so small now. It wouldn't be hard to get back to the way they were before.
Angela watched Elisa leaving, obviously in better spirits. She wished her problems were so easily dealt with. She glanced around the room and noticed Fox staring at her. Delilah said that Fox was upset about what she'd done, but did she really have any idea what sort of mess she'd created? Angela still had no idea what to do about Demona. She should tell her about the spell, but it was so clear that the blue female's affection and desire had lasted past the sunrise. She didn't understand her own feelings, and her life felt unbearably complicated. She wasn't sure she could handle being in a relationship with Demona, and she knew that whatever decision she made, people were going to get hurt. There was no avoiding that now.
Broadway's coming out of the kitchen broke the staring spell she had going on with Fox. Angela looked over at his innocent face, and could see the concern in his eyes as he saw her. She shuddered as the realization that she finally had to do it went through her mind. She looked away from him as a wave of guilt hit her. Regardless of what she decides to do about Demona, she had to end things with Broadway. She wasn't in love with him.
"Angela, are you alright? Where were you last night?" Broadway sounded much closer, so Angela glanced over at him and noticed he was moving in to hug her. She moved to avoid it. She had finally made up her mind, and his small affections might make her lose her resolve.
"Look, I'm fine. Everyone else is allowed to spend a day away once in a while. It's no big deal." Angela snapped at him. Elisa had promised to keep her secret of where she'd spent the day as long as she promised not to visit Demona like that again. Angela had agreed. It had hurt to do that, but for now… maybe she needed some time away from Demona. Just for a little while. She didn't want anyone to know what was going on until she finally understood it herself.
"I was worried." Broadway sounded hurt, and his shoulders drooped. Angela sighed. He did this all the time, acting like a kicked puppy whenever she didn't agree with him, or was angry at him for doing something stupid because the others did it. She was a few years older than all the males, just a few… but it seemed like so much more. They were often acting childish and doing stupid childish things.
Her voice got softer. She was going to try to let him down easy, or as easy as possible. "I know." Angela took a step back, and stared into his face, "I just need some space. I can't be…" She really didn't know what to tell him. She didn't notice Fox leave as she started to give the hardest speech in her life, while watching his pain as he realized what she was saying.
Angela stood in her normal spot while waiting for the sunrise. She glanced over at Goliath. He seemed quiet and upset when he got home mere minutes before the sunrise. His timing spared her yet another hard talk, as he was bound to be upset with her staying out all night.
She tried
not to glance at Broadway's sullen form.
She did notice
Angela's Chapter 3 – Two
days before Thanksgiving
Angela
looked around the courtyard after waking from her stone sleep. She had second patrol tonight. Angela noticed Broadway quietly walking
inside. He was still hurt and confused
about their break up. Angela hated that
she'd hurt him, but she just couldn't see herself in a relationship with
him. She looked at Lex and
Elisa came out to talk with Goliath. That was another tragedy of that night. Goliath and Elisa were awkward around each other now. They still hugged and kissed, but Angela could recognize the confusion that Elisa was feeling, because she felt it herself. Whoever Elisa spent that night with still plagued the detective's thoughts. Angela could also tell that her father knew it too. He would sometimes just stare at Elisa when the human didn't know it. Angela had seen him in an unguarded moment while he was lost in staring at his human mate, and the look of despair made Angela's heart ache for him.
Angela had also heard them arguing about it. Goliath wanted to know who Elisa had been with and didn't understand why Elisa wouldn't tell him if nothing more was going to come of that night. Elisa stood very firm that it didn't matter, that it wasn't going to happen again, but knowing wouldn't really help anything. Angela had agreed with her silently from her place hidden in the shadows. The anger in her father's eyes told her that whoever Elisa had made love to was better off staying a mystery. He didn't seem to understand that the spell would have worked on that woman. He was trying to get over blaming Elisa for it, but he may well have gone to try and scare someone else away.
He was also making no attempt to try and forgive Fox yet.
They'd tried to keep the news about the spell quiet, but Angela knew that somehow Lex must have found out about it. He was nervous and withdrawn, especially whenever Elisa came over. He'd blush and make any excuse to rush of. Angela wondered if he'd seen the surveillance footage of Elisa kissing her. That might explain his strange behavior.
When Angela
noticed
The night sky was clearer than normal over the city. Demona took a moment to glance at the stars and thought that they were in no way as clear as they used to be, before city lights and pollution dulled their brilliant shine. The humans continued to poison their own planet, with no regard for their offspring, or the other creatures that lived on it. It was a subtle problem that the clan didn't think about, just like they didn't think about all the bombs that the humans had created to destroy each other and anyone else that got in the way. Even if the humans did accept gargoyles, which would never happen and was just Goliath's ignorant dream, they would end up destroying clans as they destroyed each other. Where gargoyles were hatched to protect, humans were born to destroy. It was like the powers of the universe had set them up to be forever at odds in those goals, but gargoyles would never win that war if they didn't realize the war was constantly going on around them.
She stared up at the stars that were no longer as brilliant as they should be and regretted that Angela couldn't see they way they once were. She breathed in the polluted air and wondered if Angela had even noticed the difference, if Avalon had been affected by the humans slow destruction.
Angela had called her the night after she'd left so abruptly and told Demona that she needed time. Demona grimaced as she remembered that very brief conversation. Time was something that she had more than enough of, but she knew all to well that she was losing Angela. The only bright part of her endless existence was dimming like the stars in the sky.
Demona's eyes burned as she thought about the past few weeks. Angela had seduced her, and now she was being treated like the one to blame while the female avoided her and didn't call. Angela had taken advantage of Demona's rare vulnerability and used it to break the immortal's heart. How could she do that? Demona clenched her fists as her eyes started to water yet again. She was so tired of hurting over this, but she couldn't move on.
"Hey
Angela, wait up!"
Demona's hands clenched and her eyes burned when she heard that. Her luck, or curse held, because Angela landed on the building she was standing on, and he followed her down.
"
"You
broke up with him weeks ago."
Angela's
eyes started to burn and Demona grinned evilly, wanting to see that male put in
his place. "Look, I'll let you know
if I suddenly become interested in you.
Now leave me alone!"
Demona took a hesitant step out of the shadows. "Angela?" Her voice was soft and hopeful. She wrapped her arms around herself to keep them from reaching out to pull her daughter into a hug, like she would have done before everything that happened.
Angela turned around and the surprise was expected. It hurt to see the momentary look of happiness turn to nervousness just as quickly. "Mother? What are you doing here?"
Demona took a few steps closer so that she was standing in front of the female. She noticed that Angela wasn't wearing what she'd made her. "I wasn't following you. I was in the neighborhood and saw you." Demona stared into Angela's eyes, or she tried to but Angela's eyes seemed to dart everywhere but into Demona's. Part of Demona wanted to lash out at Angela for hurting her, but the girl was her only shining light. She didn't want to drive her away, she wanted her to come back. "Have you been okay?" She asked, quietly.
"I…" Angela stopped answering and sighed. "I'm confused. I just need time to think."
"I love you." Demona noticed Angela flinch at that. "No matter what you decide about that night, I want you to know that. I miss you. I miss the dinners we used to share. If you don't want us to be…" Demona just stared quietly at Angela and the turmoil she saw there hurt. "We can pretend it never happened if you want. I'll go back to just…" Demona felt the urge to move the hair out of Angela's face, and it hurt that she couldn't do that. She felt like any physical contact from her would be seen as her wanting a physical relationship, rather than her just loving Angela.
Angela studied Demona as she talked about pretending that they hadn't made love. She could see the reluctance the blue female had to do that, but she was offering to try and go back to the way things were before. Angela wished that they could do that, but it didn't seem possible. She looked at Demona and could see how nervous and vulnerable Demona was. Angela had never seen Demona look so lost and Angela felt a pang of regret that she'd done that to her. Angela may need time, but it was obvious that her taking that time was hurting Demona badly. She hadn't even told Demona about the spell, because the spell only explained that one night. It didn't explain the romantic dinner that Demona had prepared the night after, or the thoughts that Angela found herself thinking occasionally about the blue female that had shown her what true passion really was.
Angela had struggled with trying to decide what type of relationship she wanted with Demona ever since she woke up that night after they'd been together and she was no closer to an answer now than she had been before. Maybe spending time with Demona would give Angela a chance to see what she felt now. "Maybe we need to talk." Angela spoke hesitantly and the joy in Demona's eyes just confused her feelings even more. She was glad that she could make Demona happy, but she was afraid that Demona wanted more than Angela would find out she could give. "Just talk." She added with a hint of nervousness that she could see faltered Demona's slowly growing smile. "Can we go to your office?" They weren't far from NightStone, and Angela really didn’t want any of the clan to interrupt this conversation.
Demona just nodded and leapt off the roof, so Angela moved to follow while deep in thought. She hadn't told anyone what happened. The others were so caught up in their own problems that they didn't notice how often Angela spent her nights off alone in her room thinking. She wished that there was someone that she could talk to about her feelings and doubts, but she knew that no one would understand.
"So the spell lasted until sunrise." Angela finished telling Demona about the spell and waited tensely to see what her response would be. Demona got up from the couch and started pacing, her body tense, as if ready for a fight. Angela tried not to think about those strong arms holding her up while Demona made love to her. She squirmed on the couch a little and tried to push her thoughts away from that uncomfortable image. This was what she'd been afraid of. She couldn't be in the same room with Demona without thinking about it.
After what felt like several quiet minutes Demona spoke. "So, once you woke up you didn't want…"
"I don't know what I want." Angela blushed and looked down. "The spells gone now, and…" She glanced up and found the love in Demona's eyes gave her the courage to say what she'd barely allowed herself to think. "I still think about you. I still…"
Demona's eyes widened and she sat on the couch beside Angela, while staring into her eyes. When she reached out to caress Angela's cheek, Angela leaned into it. "Let me kiss you?" Demona whispered. "Just to see if we still feel it."
Angela's heart felt like it would pound out of her chest. She wasn't sure she should agree to this. What if she did still want Demona? What would she do? Angela backed away and stood up. "Maybe not. I…" She looked away from the pained look in her mother's eyes. Her voice got softer and lost the edge of panic. "I'm not… I just can't."
"Okay, maybe that's too much." Demona spoke gently but it hurt that the thought of kissing her panicked Angela that badly. "But I really don't think you should just avoid me. Angela." Demona started to reach out for Angela's hair and just managed to stop herself. She could see Angela noticed that move.
"Mother, I just need some time to think." Angela spoke quietly while looking away from her. Demona felt a sudden fear that if Angela left tonight, she would decide to stay away forever.
"I can go back to what we had before. I just don't want to lose you." Demona didn't stop herself from caressing her daughter's dark hair. "Please don't pull away from me now. We should deal with this together." Angela took a step away and Demona let the hand she'd used to try and comfort Angela fall to her side, while feeling the absence heavily. Her voice got harsher as her eyes started to burn. "You seduced me. You brought that spell to me, and now you push me away. Dammit Angela!" She was fully ready to start yelling but when she saw Angela flinch visibly at her words she wished that she could take them back. Angela turned and left with out another word and Demona stared after her while her shoulders slumped and her wings drooped. "Angela?" She spoke too quietly for her departing daughter to hear her. "I'm sorry."
Angela had left in anger, but now realized that Demona had been in pain and probably didn't mean to accuse her of so much. When she clung to the wall outside of Demona's office she heard Demona's painfilled sobs.
"Gone. She's gone." Demona's voice was barely understandable. Angela froze, knowing that Demona hadn't wanted her to see this. "Oh God… I love her so much. WHY? Damned Feys always destroying my life." Demona screamed out her pain. It was a sound so filled with heartbreak and loneliness. "I finally wasn't alone, and now she can't even look at me." Angela risked peeking in to see Demona falling ungracefully to the floor. Tears filled her own eyes at the scene before her. Demona looked shattered and in shock as she kneeled on the floor of her office crying.
Angela swallowed hard and pushed the window open more so that she could slip in quietly. Demona was so lost in her pain that she didn’t see her move around the desk. Demona looked up in shock when she finally noticed Angela moving to sit on the floor beside her. Angela took a shuddering breath and pulled Demona close to her body. Regardless of what she decided she wanted from this female, she couldn't ever abandon her. Seeing Demona in pain tore the young female apart. "I love you." Angela whispered into the red hair. She didn’t fully understand what type of love she was talking about, but she did love Demona. "Your right. We need to work on this together. I'm so sorry." Angela caressed Demona's hair as Demona pulled out of her embrace slowly to look into Angela's face. "I'll be over for dinner."
An hour later she landed on the castle courtyard with a sigh. They should have talked more, but Angela had second patrol today and not showing up would be suspicious. She didn't need the clan to start looking into where she spent her time right now, because she was going to start seeing Demona more regularly. They needed to repair the damage that this magic did to their relationship.
"Out gliding alone again?" Xanatos' voice startled Angela. She turned to glance at the man that had tried to talk to her more times in the past few weeks than her entire time in his castle before now. He'd talk about anything, the weather, the latest news, his family, his mother and father. Angela felt that she must know him better than any of the other clan did now, but she didn't know why he was suddenly trying to be her friend and she didn't trust his motives. Her distrust didn’t seem to stop him though. Angela knew that Delilah was over several nights a week now and it was no secret that she was now with both of the Xanatos'. If he was seeking yet another female it would explain his constant interest in why she broke up with Broadway or why she was avoiding the young males. He seemed to be prying to find out about her relationships far too often.
"Yes." Angela started to walk towards her room. She'd spent a good deal of time crying tonight and didn't want to give anyone a good look at her eyes. She was going to have to start working on an excuse so that she could go see Demona on Thanksgiving. Her mother had spent far too many holidays alone.
